‘Forever Analytical’ is a newly found PFAS testing facility co-founded by our trusted ally, Dr. Graham Peaslee.
Forever Analytical’s program has two options, the first for end users, firefighters and fire departments; and the second for gear manufacturers and their suppliers called FluoroZero™. Both screen for total PFAS and Brominated Flame Retardants (BRFs). Firefighting professionals can access screening services on an as needed basis for new and in-use turnout gear. Gear manufacturers and their suppliers are encouraged to enroll in the FluoroZero™ program that includes ongoing screening to ensure regulatory compliance and discovery of unintentional PFAS.
Forever Analytical’s technology is unique among PFAS testing laboratories and others offering PFAS screening services. It is the only company using particle induced gamma ray emission (PIGE) spectroscopy to screen for and detect total fluorine (PFAS) contamination. It measures total fluorine in firefighter gear to determine whether PFAS were intentionally incorporated into materials or present only at trace levels due to secondary contamination. Materials with no detectable fluorine can be designated as PFAS-free under the company’s testing criteria.

We started with a mission to fight PFAS.
Things caught fire from there.
People don’t just wake up one day and say, “I’m going to change the world.” The funny thing is, sometimes a door opens and someone says “help.” That’s exactly what happened to Forever Analytical—although we weren’t yet a formal company.
In 2017, the wife of a firefighter tracked down Forever Analytical co-founder and chief scientific officer Graham Peaslee, an expert on PFAS. Her husband had cancer, and she had a hunch his gear may have contributed to his disease. Firefighting gear is designed to resist fire, water and extreme heat. Water resistance in these textiles was achieved by using PFAS chemicals in the inner liner and outer shell of the protective gear. At the time, this was not public knowledge. The firefighter’s wife asked Graham if he would help determine if PFAS were present in her husband’s gear.
Graham said yes.
He tested the firefighting gear employing a novel technology and discovered very high concentration of PFAS. This vindicated the wife’s fears and fueled an advocacy movement in North America to replace existing gear with PFAS-free firefighting gear. A documentary on this story, Burned, was produced by Mark Ruffalo. Watch it here.
From these powerful and eye-opening initial tests, which have since been replicated many times over, things caught fire. The discovery contributed to the development of the patented PFAS screening technology and the formation of our company, Forever Analytical. Our impact quickly expanded well beyond firefighting. We’ve processed thousands of samples across water, soil, consumer and industrial products, and packaging, helping communities, utilities, manufacturers, regulators, and everyday people take meaningful steps toward a PFAS-free world.
What began as a focused scientific inquiry has grown into a broader mission to protect people, communities, and the environment from the harmful impacts of these persistent chemicals. Our work spans many industries—from public health and water quality to consumer products and advanced manufacturing — but at its core, our mission is the same:
Deliver fast, accurate, and actionable PFAS detection so decision-makers can act with confidence. And, in the process, change the world for the better, for all of us.
